Historic Harvest Festival 2025

Combining creativity and tradition

On the last weekend of August, it was that time again: the Historic Harvest Festival in Bernburg-Strenzfeld attracted numerous visitors to the grounds of the International Crop Production Centre (IPZ). With perfect weather, the atmosphere was festive, inspiring and educational – and the DLG was right in the middle of it all.

The Historic Harvest Festival offers a wide range of attractions. In addition to the traditional harvest parade, the impressive tractor show – in which the DLG also participated – and the vibrant farmers’ market, one of the day’s highlights was the straw figure competition. More than 20 groups showcased their imaginative creations made of straw – from fairy-tale characters and agricultural scenes to animal figures.

The IPZ team also gave it their all, demonstrating not only team spirit but also creativity: with a lovingly crafted group of straw chickens, we secured 4th place – a fantastic achievement that was met with great enthusiasm and applause. The jury especially praised the attention to detail.

Another highlight was the annual vintage ploughing event. The oldest team featured a remarkable combination: the Lanz Bulldog D3506 (1940) paired with a two-furrow Rudolph Sack CZ7 plough (circa 1938).
